Two people named following fatal light aircraft crash

Two people who died after a light aircraft crashed in a remote area of North Wales have been named.

Ketan Swali, aged 59, and Sheetal Swali, aged 55, were travelling in the aircraft when it came down in the hills above Trawsfynydd, close to Blaenau Ffestiniog, on Friday.

North Wales Police was alerted after the small aircraft, which had departed from an airfield in England, failed to arrive at Caernarfon Airport.

A major search operation involving air and ground teams was launched, with the wreckage eventually located on Friday afternoon in an isolated area of countryside.

The two occupants were tragically confirmed dead at the scene.

An inquest into the deaths of Mr and Mrs Swali is due to be opened at Caernarfon on Wednesday.

The circumstances surrounding the crash are being investigated by the relevant authorities.

The remote location of the crash presented significant challenges for the search and recovery operation, with emergency services working in difficult terrain.
