An 89-year-old woman has sadly died after being hit by a council-run recycling lorry on Brookes Street in Llandudno.

A man has been arrested for dangerous driving, and the police are appealing for witnesses.

Emergency services, including the air ambulance, responded, but sadly, the woman passed away at the scene.

Sergeant Duncan Logan of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit is appealing for witnesses. He said: “The lady’s next of kin have been informed and are being supported by officers, and our thoughts and sympathies are very much with them at this incredibly difficult time.

“The investigation is underway, and I can confirm that a man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and he remains in police custody.

“I would urge anybody who may have been in the vicinity of Brookes Street around the time of the collision and who may have information that could assist the investigation, to contact us as soon as possible.”
