Colwyn Bay is set to welcome back a regular market to its town centre for the first time in years, as a new weekly Colwyn Bay Market launches in early spring.

The market, organised by community regeneration group Together for Colwyn Bay, will officially open on Tuesday, 3 March, and will take place every Tuesday on Station Road, bringing traders, shoppers and fresh life back into the heart of the town.

The return of a market marks a significant moment for Colwyn Bay, which historically had a bustling market scene that drew residents and visitors alike. For generations, markets played a key role in the town’s commercial and social life, before gradually disappearing from the high street.

Organisers say the new market aims to reconnect Colwyn Bay with that tradition, while supporting modern independent businesses and local makers.

Shoppers can expect a wide range of stalls offering local produce, crafts, gifts and everyday goods, alongside a welcoming community atmosphere designed to encourage people to spend time in the town centre.

Together for Colwyn Bay has built a strong reputation for delivering large-scale, family-friendly events that bring people into the town. Over the past year alone, the group has attracted thousands of visitors with its Christmas lights switch-on and lantern parade, as well as installing a fun fair and eco ice rink over the festive period.

The organisation also runs the annual Colwyn Bay Pride festival on the promenade each summer, which has become one of the town’s biggest and most colourful events, celebrating inclusivity and community spirit. Bayside Radio is a proud media partner of the group and its events.

A spokesperson for Together for Colwyn Bay said the market is about more than shopping.

“This is about restoring something Colwyn Bay used to have and bringing people back into the town centre on a regular basis. Markets create footfall, support local traders and give people a reason to come together.”

The group hopes the weekly market will benefit nearby shops, cafés and businesses, while offering new opportunities for traders looking to establish themselves locally.

Residents are being encouraged to support the launch and help spread the word ahead of opening day.

The Colwyn Bay Market launches on Tuesday, 3 March, on Station Road, and will run every Tuesday thereafter.
