A 19-year-old man and a teenage boy have been arrested on suspicion of supplying Class C drugs.
The males were arrested in the Colwyn Bay area earlier today and both remain in custody.
The arrests relate to the sale of vape liquid that is suspected to contain the synthetic drug, ‘Spice’.
It follows recent reports of a pupil at a local secondary school becoming ill after inhaling a vape liquid containing an unknown substance.
Inspector Mathew Kelly-Smith said: “This was a serious incident, and I fully understand the concern it will cause for many parents and members of the community.
"Our priority in this case is to protect any further young people in the area from coming to harm.
“Efforts are ongoing to determine the exact circumstances that led to this individual falling ill, and to establish how widely these dangerous vape liquids may have been distributed in the local area.
“We are increasingly aware of a national trend involving vape products being laced with illegal synthetic drugs — substances that can cause unpredictable and potentially life-threatening reactions.
“These products are often marketed to young people, making the risks even more alarming.
“We are working closely with partner agencies to address this issue and prevent further harm.
“I urge anyone who has information about the sale or distribution of these substances — to report via 101, quoting reference C177034. Alternatively, you can report anonymously through Crimestoppers.
“Your information could be vital in protecting others and helping us remove these harmful products from circulation.”
