Assault warning as Llandudno man is jailed for police attack

Last week two officers were assaulted in Llandudno. One was spat at and the other spat at and bitten to his hand.

Lee Edward Tyson, 28, of Gloddaeth Street was subsequently sentenced to 12 months in prison at Llandudno Magistrates Court.

Sgt Rob Mahoney said: "Assaults against emergency workers are on the increase at a time when officers have worked tirelessly to protect the public during the most difficult circumstances.

"Whilst we appreciate that our job can at times be dangerous, it is never ok to be assaulted, and I welcome this sentence. We will not tolerate violence against officers and anyone who behaves in such a way will be arrested and placed before the Courts."

North Wales Police Federation General Secretary, Mark Jones said: "Every single assault on a police officer is an assault on society as a whole.

"For a police officer to be spat at and bitten is simply vile when all they are trying to do is protect the communities we all live and work in. It is good to see that this disgusting individual is now behind bars and that this sends a powerful message that those who choose to assault an emergency service worker should expect justice."
