Bay's huge game after lead is cut to three points

The Seagulls face the first of back to back games against second-from-bottom Penrhyncoch at the 4 Crosses Arena on Saturday (2:30pm kick-off) knowing they can’t afford any slip ups after losing their unbeaten league record last weekend.

Holywell followed up Saturday’s win by closing the gap at the top to just three points with a 2-0 midweek victory over Chirk (their 24th win in a row) so the Bay need to bounce back from the weekend’s disappointment as, on current form, the Wellmen would look favourites to win all their remaining three games.

The title is still in Bay’s own hands and two wins against the Ceredigion village side would, with their superior goal difference, put them in a very strong position going into the last round of games on April 15.

Penrhyncoch have won only three of their 26 league games so far and have not won in their last eight outings since a 2-1 home win over bottom side Holyhead Hotspur at the end of January, but Seagulls boss Steve Evans is taking nothing for granted.

“There are no easy games and we’ll treat Penrhyncoch with the respect they deserve,” he commented.

“We’ll dust ourselves down, do the work in midweek, and be ready to put in a performance on Saturday to get us the three points.”
