The Seagulls extended their winning run to 12 games with 4-1 home victory over Ruthin Town.

It keeps the Bay top of the table on goal difference from Holywell Town and with two games in hand on them.

Tom McCready had an early chance blocked by a defender, but Bay took the lead on 17 minutes with a header at the back post from James Kirby for his 11th of the season.

From a deep cross by Sam Hart, nobody could add a finishing touch to Matty Hill’s driven ball across the face of the goal, but the Bay went 2-0 up on 35 minutes when good play by Tom McCready and Dylan Allshorn ended with the latter’s low cross being turned into his own net by Ruthin defender Sam Rickett as James Kirby closed in.

A big shout for a penalty when Kirby was floored in the box was waved away by the referee before half-time and early in the second half Ruthin pulled a goal back when a speculative cross from Joe Sullivan avaded everybody to ended up in the net.

The Bay responded immediately, however, with Matty Hill scoring with an overhead kick when the ball was played back into the area from a corner to make it 3-1.

James Kirby had a shot deflected over the bar and McCready was unlucky to see a skillful a volley well saved by Ruthin keeper Daniel Goldston and free kick glance wide off Lewis Sirrell.

Bay did, however, add a fourth goal on 87 minutes when Lewis Sirrell made a late run into the area to power home a header from Jamie Cumming’s corner.
