Colwyn Bay FC new Academy appointments announced

Colwyn Bay FC Academy director Matt Sampson has announced two new appointments with Lee Bubb becoming head of the Foundation age groups of Under-8s, Under-9s, Under-10s and Under-l1s, while Clive Rushton becomes head of the Under-12s to Under-16s age group.

Matt, who will also head the Under-19s development squad, commented: "Lee came to the Bay from Rhyl in the summer and he has been very productive and keen to help move things forward, while Clive was at Llandudno for a number of years and is a very well known and respected figure in football along the North Wales Coast.

"They will be assisting myself in delivering my philosophy on playing football and the hard work ethics that we are encouraging at the Academy."

Their appointments come after Simon Lacey and John Gilbertson stepped down from their coaching positions.

"We would like to thank Simon and John for their valuable contributions over the years and wish them well,." added the director.

The Academy hopes to be able to restart training this week following a decision by the Welsh Government to allow children in lockdown areas to travel to sporting activities outside their county boundaries, and the club are just awaiting confirmation from the FA of Wales.

Matt Sampson is also holding his first parents evening via zoom this week with invitations already sent out.

"Obviously I would prefer to meet parents face to face, but under the present circumstances that isn't possible, so this is the next best thing for parents to ask any questions and for me to explain to them what we have in mind to move the Academy forward," added Matt.
