After the postponement of Wednesday’s home game against Gresford Athletic, the Seagulls are keeping fingers crossed that Sunday’s away game at bottom of the table Holyhead Hotspur goes ahead as they look to complete a league and cup treble over the Anglesey side and stay top of the JD Cymru North.
Holyhead recently had to postpone a home game with Llandudno after a pitch inspection and the current forecast is for frequent wintry showers to continue to fall on frozen ground in North Wales for much of Friday night and Saturday into Sunday morning.
If the game can go ahead, Steve Evans’ side will have overcome tricky pitch conditions to get a result.
They have already beaten Holyhead twice at home this season (3-0 in the WBS League Cup and 4-0 in the league) and Holyhead, who were beaten 5-2 by Llandudno on Wednesday, have not won in their last eight outings.
They have, however, proved a difficult side to beat on their home pitch, with good wins earlier in the season over Prestatyn (cup) and Buckley Town (league), whilst Welsh Prem side Caernarfon Town only won 1-0 there in the Nathaniel MG Cup with a solitary close range goal from Iwan Cartwright.
The Bay were held to a 0-0 draw at the New Oval ground last season.
