The Seagulls get the 2021/22 season under way on Saturday (July 17) with a trip to Holywell Town in the opening round of the Nathaniel MG Cup.
Holywell, who include former Bay player Danny Andrews in their squad, completed their pre-season with a 3-1 home defeat to Wrexham's Youth team on Tuesday evening, having taken an early lead, but they had an excellent 2-1 win over Caernarfon Town and drew 1-1 with Cefn Druids. Their other games saw a 4-0 win at Rhydymwyn and a 4-2 home defeat to Runcorn Town.
The Bay are likely to be without goalkeeper Paddy Rutter after he suffered a head injury in the friendly win over Porthmadog last weekend.
“Paddy is in the middle of concussion protocols at the moment in terms of the nature of the injury he had,” reported Bay boss Craig Hogg.
Gwion Owen also picked up an injury against Porthmadog and was having that assessed this week.
Ahead of next Saturday’s game, Craig added: “We have a squad in mind for the game and that will be the case throughout the season.
“The important thing is that we have a squad of 22 players. People will be disappointed that they are not in the matchday 16, so it’s up those people in the 16 to make sure that they stay there.
“If they don’t perform for whatever reason, it could be a long time before someone gets back into that squad.
“We aren’t going to achieve anything in football with 11 people - we need more than that and I think we’ve got a strong group of players, which I don’t think we’ve had since I’ve been manager of Colwyn Bay.”
