Young people from right across Conwy have taken part in a series of protests today on climate change and have demanded action from the UK government.
As part of a ‘climate strike’ day pupils have left schools from right across the country to highlight the many worries and concerns felt by the younger generation on this growing issue.
Pupils visited the Coed Pella offices of Conwy Council in Colwyn Bay to make their feelings known.
Rallies have been taking place in London, Manchester and Glasgow throughout the morning and from lunchtime people have been urged to unite with young protestors by letting off alarm clocks.
This to symbolise the urgency that young people feel about the issue and that ‘the world needs to wake up and tackle the problem’. The protest follows a series of similar school strikes inspired by teenage activist Greta Thunberg.
Energy Minister Kwasi Kwarteng said voices were being heard and that action is being taken. Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn is set to address a rally in Westminster at 1.15pm this afternoon.
