Conwy’s Cabinet Members have chosen a preferred contractor for the construction of the children’s assessment centre in Colwyn Bay.
Earlier this month, Councillors looked at the tenders submitted by the shortlisted contractors, and voted on who should be awarded the contract.
Today it has been announced that WRW Construction has been awarded the contract to build the new sub Regional Children’s Assessment Unit in Colwyn Bay.
The new unit, which will be named Bwthyn y Ddôl, will be a place where children can be safely cared for, supported and supervised by a residential team, and where children and their parents and carers can meet an on-site therapeutic team.
The project is a partnership between Conwy County Borough Council, Denbighshire County Council and Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board.
WRW Construction will move on site in April and the work to construct Bwthyn y Ddôl is expected to take about 12 months.
The total cost of Bwthyn y Ddôl is £2,687,524 funded through the Welsh Government Integrated Care Fund.
Planning Approval was granted to the project late last year before land appropriation and the use of the old Meadow Lodge on Abergele Road was agreed in Februrary.
