Undoubtedly the escapades of the world famous Great Orme goats have given Llandudno residents and businesses a real tourism boost in recent years, but their over-confidence has been creating problems for some.
Following a number of people raising concerns regarding the continued presence of the animals within Llandudno and Craig-y-Don, the Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, Janet Finch-Saunders, raised this matter with Conwy County Borough Council (CCBC).
Having now received a response Mrs. Finch-Saunders has confirmed is pleased to report that a “round-up” of goats in Craig-y-Don will soon take place.
Commenting on the problem, she said: “While the Great Orme goats are a valued asset to Llandudno and our community we must recognise that their continued visits to urban areas of our town raises serious concerns, especially in relation to potential road safety and damage to residents property.
“Given this, I am thrilled to see that CCBC will be taking positive action to address this situation and will seek to rehome some of these animals in effort to deter the group from venturing from the Great Orme once again.
“Although I am aware that this may only be a temporary solution, I would assure constituents that I remain committed to liaising with the relevant organisations to also try and identify and deliver a long term plan.”
