COVID: Over a 1000 new cases with hundreds in North Wales

New cases of Covid-19 in Wales have exceeded over a thousand in recent days according to the latest bulletin from Public Health Wales.

On Monday 1,190 cases were recorded including hundreds more in North Wales. Thankfully no new Covid-19 related deaths were reported.

The breakdown of the 358 new North Wales cases are as follows:

Wrexham 96, Flintshire 85, Denbighshire 71, Conwy 56, Gwynedd 33 and Anglesey 17.

Over the past week, Wrexham continues to have the worst infection rate in the whole of Wales with 329.5 cases per 100,000 of population versus a North Wales average of 205.

Over the same period of time the infection rate in Conwy stood at 183.4 whilst Denbighshire is 185.

Betsi Cadwaladr continues to appeal to all adults to come forward and receive their vaccinations.

In particular, the health board would like to see more people aged between 30-39 as these are in the age group most likely to have not presented themselves for a jab.

Drop-in vaccinations are now being held at the Coed Pella Council building in Colwyn Bay on Mondays.

The first began today and will continue on 19th and 26th July from 9.30am - 7pm. This is in addition to vaccinations available at Ysbty'r Enfys at Venue Cymru in Llandudno.
