A local grandfather is gearing up to make a difference by taking on a major cycling challenge in support of Hope House Children's Hospices. Alan, inspired by his grandson Ruairi, is participating in the event to help raise vital funds for children with life-threatening conditions.

The charity is inviting cyclists of all abilities to join Alan, offering both a traditional ride through the English and Welsh countryside and a virtual "Cycle100" option for those who prefer to complete the 100-mile distance at their own pace throughout August.

Participants can choose between two ticket options for the main Cycle Challenge: a £25 entry fee with a minimum of £75 in sponsorship, or a £45 entry fee with no sponsorship requirement. Alternatively, the Cycle100 virtual challenge is free to enter, with a suggested sponsorship target of £25.

Harriet Richards, a fundraiser for Hope House, shared her enthusiasm for the event's return, stating, "We are delighted to bring back our Cycle Challenge for summer 2026, kindly sponsored by RUK Group, alongside our virtual Cycle100."

She also highlighted the impact of the participants' efforts, adding, "We know how much our cyclists look forward to this event every year and we can’t wait to welcome Alan and all our amazing riders once again to raise money which will help children with life-threatening conditions to live their best life."
