Deadline approaches for Town Council grants

Community groups and organisations with ideas to bring people and visitors into the area are being reminded that the deadline for grant applications is coming up soon.

The Bay of Colwyn Town Council is inviting applications from local organisations requiring funding to provide an event, festival or cultural activity which has the potential to encourage community cohesion and attract visitors to the Bay of Colwyn area. Applications need to be at the Town Council no later than midday on January 2nd.

The proposed event in Colwyn Bay, Old Colwyn or Rhos-on-Sea must take place in the Bay of Colwyn Area between May 2020 and April 2021, be open to the general public and have the potential to attract significant visitor numbers.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate a successful track record in delivering events, or be willing and able to work with another organisation which can do so.

A funding ‘pot’ will be set aside by the Town Council, which it is hoped will fund a number of events. The maximum funding available for any individual event is £5,000 and applicants for larger events are therefore encouraged to seek additional funding from other sources.

The Town Mayor, Cllr Neil Bastow, says “Events continue to play a key role in attracting both local residents and visitors to our town, making it a vibrant place to live or visit.

"The Town Council continues to support those willing and able to organise events, in the hope that we can have a year-round calendar of activities to appeal to all ages.”
