A former North Wales Police officer has admitted committing a sexual offence involving two teenage girls in Old Colwyn.

Detective Constable Lee Harshey-Jones, who has since resigned from the force, appeared at Chester Crown Court today (Wednesday, 30 September).

The 45-year-old pleaded guilty to recording an image under clothing in order to observe another person without their consent, contrary to Section 67A of the Sexual Offences Act 2003.

The offence relates to an incident in Old Colwyn on Thursday, 11 June involving two teenage females.

Harshey-Jones was arrested shortly afterwards and subsequently charged by North Wales Police. He was immediately suspended from duty.

At today's hearing, he also pleaded guilty to corrupt or other improper exercise of police powers and privileges, as well as perverting the course of justice.

He was granted bail and will be sentenced at Chester Crown Court on Thursday, 19 November.

Criminal proceedings and North Wales Police misconduct procedures remain ongoing.

The force said it is unable to comment while the proceedings continue and that further information will be provided when appropriate.
