A former school chaplain now living in Llanrwst has been spared jail after being found with indecent images of children and extreme pornography on his phone.
Samuel Erlandson, 36, formerly from Rhuabon, admitted to the charges at court in Llandudno.
The judge noted that there were underlying issues in Erlandson's life and decided to suspend his sentences.
Instead Erlandson must complete unpaid work, rehabilitation activities and comply with sex offender notification requirements for ten years. He has also been dismissed from his position at St David's College in Llandudno.
Speaking after sentencing, investigating officer Detective Constable Matthew Hoyle said: “The offences committed by Erlandson, who held a position of trust at the school he taught, within the Church of Wales and the community, are deeply concerning.
“His actions have understandably caused distress to many, who once trusted and respected him. Thankfully, he can no longer work with children which will prevent any further harm.
“The creation and distribution of indecent images of children causes immeasurable harm to victims and their families and we are committed to bringing to justice anyone who commits sexual offences, whether in person or online.”
