Gogs fly high with dominant Bridgend victory

RGC produced a scintillating display of attacking rugby to overpower Bridgend Ravens 57–14 at Stadiwm Eirias, sealing a fifth-place finish and building serious momentum ahead of the playoffs.

Backed by a lively crowd of 1,016 on Saturday afternoon, the Gogs ran in nine tries in a performance that grew in authority as the game wore on.

It was the visitors who struck first, with Dominiko Manaseitava crossing early and Fraser Jones converting to briefly quieten the home support. But RGC’s response was immediate. Slick hands through the line created space for Charlie Probert to finish, and with Josh McBryde adding the extras, the hosts were level.

That proved to be the catalyst.

RGC began to find their rhythm, playing with pace and confidence. A perfectly weighted crossfield kick picked out Caio Parry, who showed composure to step inside and score, before Delwyn Jones powered over from a quick tap penalty as the home side seized control.

A yellow card for Manaseitava further tilted the balance, although Bridgend responded with a well-worked try from Iwan Powell to keep themselves in contention. The contest threatened to tighten when Patrick Nelson was sin-binned just before the break, leaving RGC temporarily down to 14.

But any hopes of a Ravens comeback were quickly extinguished after the restart.

RGC showed patience and control, building phases before Sam Williams forced his way over for the bonus-point try. From there, the floodgates opened.

A sweeping move across the pitch allowed Sam Jones to break down the wing, with Parry finishing in the opposite corner for his second. The forwards then took charge, with Jac Petch-Jones peeling off a maul to score, before McBryde added a try of his own—converting it to underline his influence on the game.

Playing with growing confidence, RGC cut loose. Another long-range attack sliced through the Bridgend defence to bring up the half-century, as the home side’s tempo and precision proved too much to handle.

Even a late yellow card for Williams could not stem the tide. In a final flourish, Parry intercepted a loose pass and sprinted clear to complete his hat-trick, with McBryde adding the conversion to cap a dominant afternoon.

It was a performance full of intent and attacking flair, one that gathered momentum with every phase and left no doubt about RGC’s playoff credentials.

They now turn their attention to a quarter-final trip to Llandovery RFC on April 25, carrying confidence and belief that this powerful run of form can take them even further.
