North Wales Police are taking part in a consultation and survey to find out what the public think of number plate recognition techniques in their fight against crime.
The anonymous survey which focuses specifically on the use Automatic Number Plate Recognition cameras and software (ANPR) is being conducted by all of the countries' forces to understand what people truly feel about their use.
The technology is used to help detect, deter and disrupt criminality at a local, regional and national level, including tackling travelling criminals, organised crime groups and terrorists.
However, privacy issues have caused concerns about ANPR, such as government tracking citizens' movements and misidentification. Some critics have described it as a form of mass surveillance.
