Labour's Andy Dunbobbin is new Police and Crime Commissioner

Labour's candidate for the Police and Crime Commissioner in North Wales has won the post after two rounds of votes were taken into consideration.

Andy Dunbobbin received 98,034 votes in the second round against Conservative candidate Pat Astbury.

In the first round Mrs. Astbury led the vote over Mr. Dunbobbin but due to the voting system unless a candidate gets more than half of all votes in the first round, counting then takes place in a second stage. At this point all but the two top candidates are eliminated and secondary votes are also taken into account.

Plaid Cymru's candidate Ann Griffiths missed out on second round voting after receiving 67,673 in the first round.

Carl Foukes, Chief Constable of North Wales Police said "I would like to congratulate Andy Dunbobbin on being elected as the new Police and Crime Commissioner for North Wales.

"I look forward to working with Andy in delivering the Police and Crime Plan for the communities of North Wales".
