Llandudno RNLI Commemorates 200 Years of Lifesaving

On Thursday, representatives from Llandudno RNLI came together to take part in a memorable initiative called “One Moment for One Crew.” This special photo opportunity captures the spirit and dedication of those who contribute to the lifesaving mission of the RNLI during its landmark 200th anniversary year.

Founded in 1824, the RNLI invited volunteers and staff from across the UK and Ireland to document themselves and their teams at precisely 18:24 on August 1, 2024. Participants included lifeguards on duty, lifeboat crew members at their stations, fundraisers at events, and museum volunteers—all encouraged to represent their vital role within the organization.

Members of the Llandudno RNLI community, including operational crew, fundraisers, shop volunteers, and visits team, enthusiastically joined in this initiative. Their photographs have been collected and uploaded to a dedicated online portal, where they will be combined to create a compelling montage that honors the collective efforts of the RNLI.

Before capturing their moment at 18:24, the Llandudno RNLI members participated in a ceremonial “Honorary Freedom of Llandudno” walk to the lifeboat station, further symbolizing their commitment to the community.

Having celebrated its bicentennial milestone on March 4th earlier this year, the RNLI’s photographic tribute is part of a broader series of events and programs designed to commemorate its 200 years of lifesaving service.

This initiative stands as a testament to the enduring legacy and community spirit of the RNLI.
