Majority stake in Llanrwst based Zip World sells for £100m

Welsh adventure company Zip World has been sold for over £100m.

The company, with its headquarters in Llanrwst is known for its eight sites across Wales and England. This includes the world's fastest zip line, Velocity.

The firm will now be owned by Dolphin Capital with founder Sean Taylor retaining a minority stake. The deal is expected to help accelerate Zip World's plans for expansion.

Next month, the Conwy Valley business will open Zip World London at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, followed by a new site in Elterwater, Cumbria later this year.  They also plan to upgrade their existing sites.

New investors, Dolphin Capital, already own Snowcentres Ltd, which offers indoor snow sports activities.

The firm has expanded its offerings since its launch in 2013. Starting with Zip World Velocity at Penrhyn Quarry, they have since opened Zip World Titan, Bounce Below, and Zip World Caverns at Llechwedd Slate Caverns.
