An elderly man has died following a fire inside his house in Rhos-on-Sea earlier today.

North Wales Fire and Rescue were called to Marston Drive at just after 8.30am this morning by North Wales Police after they received a report concerning concerns for the safety of the residents.

Police officers admitted that signs of fire were present and discovered the man, believed to be in his 80s, in a bedroom.

A inspector from the Colwyn Bay division attended along with fire officers who are investigating the incident with North Wales Police.

Justin Evans of the North Wales Fire and Rescue Service: "We deeply sympathise with the family at this difficult time. This is a sad event for those who are involved directly and the immediate community.

“The cause of the fire has not been determined as yet.”
