North Wales is set to enjoy a burst of early spring warmth this week, with forecasters predicting sunshine and temperatures climbing into the low twenties along the coast.
After a chilly start to the week, conditions are expected to improve quickly. Monday will see brighter spells developing through the day, with temperatures reaching around 15°C along parts of the Gwynedd coast by the afternoon. A milder night will then set the stage for a much warmer Tuesday.
According to Met Office forecasts, Tuesday will bring one of the warmest days of the year so far across north west Wales. Coastal areas including Llandudno and Colwyn Bay could see temperatures rise to around 21°C to 22°C, with some spots potentially nudging slightly higher in the sunshine.
The day is expected to start bright and sunny, although high cloud may drift in from the west later in the morning, turning the sunshine a little hazy by lunchtime. Despite this, it will still feel warm and pleasant, particularly in sheltered areas, though a light breeze may be noticeable along the coast.
Forecasters are also warning of a very high pollen count, which could cause discomfort for hay fever sufferers heading outdoors to enjoy the conditions.
The fine weather is set to continue into the evening, with dry and settled conditions making for a pleasant end to the day.
The short spell of warmth has been described as a “mini heatwave” for the region, offering a welcome lift after a mixed and unsettled Easter Bank Holiday weekend.
However, the settled conditions are not expected to last, with a change on the horizon. By Thursday, cooler air is forecast to return, bringing showers or longer spells of rain across North Wales.
For now though, residents and visitors are being encouraged to make the most of the sunshine while it lasts.
