Police will be patrolling a Llandudno street after safety fears caused by irresponsible motorists have been highlighted.

Following reports that the narrow road alongside the tram station at the top of town was being used as an illegal shortcut, local officers have made a statement.

"We have had numerous concerns raised from residents along The Old Road in Llandudno.

"This road is an 'Access only' route, meaning this is not a ‘bypass’ for quicker access to the main road.

"Vehicles have been speeding down the road, and on a number of occasions, residents are having to quickly get out of the way of oncoming vehicles. The signs at the top of the street are clearly marked.

"We will be patrolling the area more frequently and stopping vehicles seen using the road. The Roads Safety Unit will also be conducting stop checks in the area.

"Please use Ty-Gwyn Road, as this is the main road to and from the Great Orme. Thank you for your co-operation."
