Following news that a senior coroner has said that they are “concerned that the pressure on clinicians and other staff is unsustainable and that delays in treatment will result in deaths” at Glan Clwyd Hospital, Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for North Wales, Darren Millar MS has made a statement.

In it he shares his concerns about the situation and has called for immediate action.

Mr. Millar said: “I fully support the coroner’s calls. How many more tragedies and how many more avoidable deaths must the people of North Wales suffer before the Welsh Government and the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board take the action necessary to resolve the unacceptable and unsafe situation in Glan Clwyd Hospital?

“We need urgent action and we need it now. Enough is enough.”

Welsh Conservative Shadow Health Minister, Russell George MS added: “People who rely on Glan Clwyd Hospital will be rightly concerned by these comments from the coroner. The Labour Welsh Government need to step in immediately, given their responsibility for the health board as it is in special measures and provide vital reassurance.“
