Clwyd West MS Darren Millar, who throughout the pandemic has continually fought for support for Colwyn Bay’s Welsh Mountain Zoo, and other animal attractions across North Wales, was delighted to see the popular attraction thriving once again when he visited last week.

Mr. Millar called at the Welsh Mountain Zoo, the National Zoo of Wales, on Friday to see the snow leopards in their new enclosure, which was completed last year.

He said: “After an extremely challenging 15 months due to the pandemic, it was fantastic to see the zoo busy with lots of people enjoying the good weather and having a great day out seeing the many animals there.

“The snow leopards were enjoying their new home too!”

Mr. Millar who established a Cross Party Group on Zoos and Animal Attractions in the Senedd added: “The Welsh Mountain Zoo is a real asset to North Wales attracting thousands of visitors from both North Wales and further afield each year.

“The zoo is owned and run by a conservation and education charity, and last year its future was in jeopardy after it was forced to close due to covid. I am so pleased that it survived this difficult period and that people can enjoy all it has to offer once again.

"I urge the people of North Wales to support the zoo by enjoying a day out at this top North Wales attraction.”
