An extra £60 million is to be invested in Additional Learning Needs support across Wales after the Welsh Government reached an agreement with Welsh Labour.
The funding will be included in the 2026-27 financial year and clears the way for the Welsh Government’s Supplementary Budget to be presented to the Senedd.
The budget will be laid on Tuesday, 13 October, with a debate scheduled for 3 November.
First Minister Rhun ap Iorwerth said the agreement demonstrated what could be achieved through co-operation between political parties in the Senedd.
He said the additional funding for Additional Learning Needs would be part of a wider package that continued investment in the NHS, childcare and free school meals.
Welsh Labour leader Ken Skates said the money could make a significant difference to schools and colleges, but stressed the importance of ensuring it reached the children and young people who needed support.
He described the agreement as a first step towards improving school funding and securing better outcomes for learners across Wales.
