Young motorists in North Wales are being warned to keep their hands on the wheel and their hands off their mobile phones.
This morning officers have reported that a newly qualified driver was stopped in Abergwyngregyn and charged with using a phone at the wheel.
"The driver only passed his test back in January, and given that the penalty for using a mobile phone whilst driving is 6 points (including a £200 fine) he will now lose his licence," said a spokesperson for North Wales Police.
"Day or night, irrespective of whether the roads are quiet, driving a vehicle requires your full attention.
"If you attempt to use a hand-held mobile phone or similar device while driving, you are putting innocent road users at risk. A slight lapse in concentration can have devastating consequences - please wait until you have safely parked your vehicle before attempting to interact with your phone".
