An appeal in response to the extensive damage caused to the Colwyn Bay Cricket Club after an arson attack an number of weeks back has been launched.
Matthew Ferdinando, who is Club Treasurer of the club in Rhos-on-Sea made an impassioned appeal for support after "mindless vandals" caused extensive damage to the Tea Pavillion, a part of the club which hosts community events and facilities for the whole of the local community.
"During the early hours of Friday 20th May the "Tea Pavilion" - the oldest building on the site - was targeted by mindless vandals in an arson attack. The damage is extensive and the property will very likely have to be demolished. Luckily no one was injured and the perpetrators were caught.
"As a valuable community asset, the Club are intent on rebuilding a bigger, better, and more modern facility on the site – if funds, permissions etc permit.
"Whilst insurance will hopefully go a long way towards our goal, the Club will have to contribute funds in order to achieve the best possible outcome. We have been inundated with offers of help and support, and so have created this page as a straightforward way of facilitating those generous offers."
