Pedestrian zone rules ignored on Bangor High Street

Residents are being reminded that Bangor High Street remains a pedestrian-only zone, following growing concerns over anti-social behaviour and dangerous driving in the area.

The restriction means that between 4.30pm and 10am, access is permitted only for disabled drivers and delivery vehicles. Members of the general public are not allowed to drive through the street during these hours.

The warning comes after reports of vehicles ignoring the by-law in the evenings, with incidents of anti-social behaviour and unsafe driving leaving some residents feeling distressed.

Police say they will now be stepping up patrols in the area, with officers taking action against anyone breaching the restrictions or contributing to disorder.

A spokesperson said the aim is to keep the busy city centre safe and accessible for pedestrians, particularly during peak evening periods.

Anyone with concerns about anti-social behaviour is encouraged to report it via the police website or by calling 101.
