Police drug chase ends in crash - one suspect still at large

A man remains in police custody following a police pursuit in Rhyl last night.

Shortly after 10pm officers we were involved in a pursuit with an electric motorcycle with two on board on Kingsley Avenue, Rhyl after the bike failed to stop.

Despite best efforts, Police lost sight of the bike, and a search of the area was carried out which also involved local response officers.

A short time later the electric motorcycle collided with a vehicle on Tynewydd Road and both rider and pillion passenger ran away. Nobody in the vehicle was injured.

A quantity of Class A and C drugs, a phone and the motorcycle was seized.

Following a short foot chase, a 20-year-old man, of no fixed address, was swiftly arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A and C drugs, aid and abet dangerous driving and aid and abet the use of a motor vehicle without insurance. He remains in custody.

The rider remains outstanding; however, enquiries are underway to try and locate them.

Inspector Leigh Evans said: “We do not tolerate dangerous riding or driving of any kind. Last night’s arrest is an example of the work that is underway on a daily basis to remove drugs from our streets and deter and stop the anti-social use of some of these electric motorcycles which is causing concern amongst communities.

“Thankfully, no members of the public were injured during this incident, and only minor damage was caused to the vehicle on Tynewydd Road.

“The rider clearly showed no regard for the safety of the members of the public, and we are conducting a number of enquiries to identify them. We urge anybody who may have information in relation to this incident to contact us immediately.”
