North Wales Police have renewed their appeal to identify the mother of a newborn baby whose body was found on the shoreline near Bangor a month ago.
The baby, named Baby Ceri by investigators, was discovered on the Menai Strait shoreline on September 27. Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances of her death and are working to trace her mother, who has not yet been identified.
During the past month, officers investigating under Operation Melex have reviewed hundreds of hours of CCTV footage, followed up information submitted by members of the public and distributed more than 2,000 leaflets locally.
Specialist tests are also being carried out as the investigation continues.
Superintendent Llinos Davies said officers remained determined to establish what happened to Baby Ceri and urged anyone who could help to come forward.
Police are particularly appealing to the baby’s mother, father or other family members to make contact, stressing that they want to provide answers and support.
A dedicated support line for the mother remains open around the clock. She can call or text 07974 241223.
Anyone with information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact North Wales Police on 101 or through the force’s live chat service, quoting Operation Melex.
