Fire fighters have been praised by a local politician for their efforts in extinguishing a major blaze in the Conwy Valley and tackling a series of fires elsewhere in the country in recent days.
Over 20 firefighters, including a wildfire unit, worked to put out the large wildfire in Trefriw which began on Thursday evening and was extinguished on Friday morning.
Janet Finch-Saunders, the Member of Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, expressed her gratitude to the firefighters for their hard work.
She commended the dedication of fire crews in tackling the many fires experienced across Wales and putting themselves at risk to protect the area.
“It was concerning to learn about the wildfires happening across Wales, with Fire and Rescue Services responding to grass fires in Merthyr Tydfil, Crickhowell and a wildfire at Trefriw.
“My sincere gratitude goes out to the Fire and Rescue teams, and especially to our wonderful, dedicated local firefighters for tackling these blazes. Yet again, they have stepped in and put themselves at risk to keep us and our beautiful area safe.”
