Projects for young people in the Bay could get cash boost

Have you got an idea or project that could benefit the younger generation in our community? Perhaps it's something that you are already working on but haven't got the funding to make it a reality.

The Bay of Colwyn Town Council would like to hear from you today.

This year they have allocated £5,000 from its annual budget to help support youth projects or activities which could become a reality in 2020. Grants for up to £1000 are being made available.

And in an exciting new development, they are asking local residents and local groups to decide which schemes will be successful in receive support through an approach called ‘Participatory Budgeting’.

This is simply about local people making decisions directly over how local public money is spent or in this case, how the grant funding would be awarded.

The Mayor of Colwyn Bay, Cllr Neil Bastow said; “We need your ideas for projects or activities for our local young people.

"The application process is really simple and you, our local residents, will be able to decide which projects receive funding at a public voting event in April".

Support is only available for projects which will be run to benefit young people in Colwyn Bay, Old Colwyn and Rhos on Sea in line with the area of responsibility of the Colwyn Town Council.
