Red Cross Fund to help those most impacted by pandemic

British Red Cross are reaching out to community and charitable groups across Conwy and Denbighshire to highlight details of their Hardship Fund.

With support from partner Aviva, the project intends to help those most financially impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak.

It aims to address acute hardship and suffering to the those who are the most vulnerable, providing a short-term financial safety net for people most impacted by the pandemic.

The fund aims to support up to 13,000 of the most disadvantaged people and is looking for local groups to nominate individuals who meet a specific criteria.

It will provide help to people unable to afford everyday essentials including food and toiletries, somewhere safe to sleep, access to a telephone and the internet and fuel to keep the lights on, cook and stay warm.

Funds distributed to those who meet the criteria will receive a pre-paid cash card. The cash grant will be a maximum of £360, paid in three monthly instalments of £120 each. Families with children or other dependants can apply for up to three grants, for a total of £1,080 over the three-month period.

So that the money reaches those most in need, British Red Cross are working with Local Authorities and charity partners to identify potential recipients of the fund.
