Residents battle through another night of rain and wind

After a further night of heavy rain and high winds, Conwy County and Colwyn Bay has woke to a blustery but brighter start to the weekend.

However, overnight the picture was one of flood warnings throughout the area with 16 rivers on high alert across North and Mid Wales.

Yesterday Capel Curig experienced over 50mm of rain with a warning in place for the River Conwy.

Residents across the Llanrwst flood belt braced themselves for another sleepless night with pumps, workers and volunteers keeping on top of the rising water.

Flood warnings currently remain in place for the River Conwy at Gwydir Road covering areas of agricultural land and isolated properties in the Conwy Valley. At 10.30am on Saturday, Traffic Wales informed Bayside that the A470 Tal-y-Cafn to Llanrwst has been closed in both directions due to flooding.

Much of the flooding experienced on the A5 near Capel Curig and the A470 on the Dolgellau Bypass has subsided. However on the A487 Dyfi Bridge the road is currently closed.

The outlook for Saturday remains unsettled with strong winds and cloud continuing. There will be some patches of rain towards the afternoon.

Sunday will see light rain and heavy cloud across Sunday with the winds still strong but less powerful than those on Friday night and Saturday.
