Stage Fright brings a new twist to Wednesday's I'm A Celebrity

I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! returns which can mean only one thing… the time has come for a brand new cast of celebrities to battle it out in TV’s toughest entertainment challenge.

This year the show is being filmed at the historic Gwrych Castle in Abergele.

Last night viewers were treated to Frights of the Round Table - a stomach churning challenge which saw Vernon Kay, Jordan North and Beverley Callard tuck into ten disgusting dishes to win food for their fellow campmates.

Coronation Street Actor Antony Cotton told today’s I’m A CelebrityThe Daily Drop that he thinks last night’s eating trial is a sign of who will be in this year’s I’m A CelebrityGet Me Out Of Here! final.

Speaking to host Vick Hope, the former I’m A Celebrity star and pal of current castle campmate Beverley Callard said: “Last night’s eating trial was a brilliant example of how resilient... she’s [Beverley] done all kinds of different jobs. She’s got stuck in and triumphed.

"Last night was an extraordinary trial, to get 10 stars and eat that horrendous muck. She’s been brilliant. We’re very, very proud of her.”

Making an early prediction he added: “Beverley’s a queen in her own right, I think they’ve all got a shot [at winning], but I think the northern contingency has a really good shot this year.

I wouldn’t be surprised if that eating trial last night isn’t representative of the final night in camp.”

Antony admitted he didn’t truly believe the beloved former Coronation Street star was actually going to do the show, saying: “I still didn’t believe that she was going to go in, let alone to do a trial. She’s been absolutely brilliant.”

He added of his friend: “Beverley’s a very emotional person. If someone upset her, that’s the thing that would derail her. But from what I can see everyone in there seems really nice. Famous last words… but especially the trial last night, she was with Vernon, she was with Jordan, they’re two gentlemen.

"So far for me the big surprise has been Jordan - who is the best campmate ever - and Beverley and Vernon last night really bonded and formed a team. There’s something about northern spirit, a shared mutual understanding of each other.

“You’ve seen her mother them and want to put her arms around them and they’ve accepted that and embraced that, so it’s been really beautiful.”

Tonight the series takes a twist as two new campmates Ruthie Henshall and Russell Watson take part in tonight's Trial -  Stage Fright.

Find out how they get on in I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! at 9pm on ITV.
