Stop, Pause, Look and Listen: good advice for young people

In a series of special community features which Bayside has been doing across the week, one of the most heartbreaking stories has been one that Jeff Pearson spoke about earlier today on his show.

Jeff was talking about his conversation with a lady who lost her son who was sadly killed when he was struck by a car whilst crossing the road wearing earphone and listening to his music.

As a result of the accident the Jack Taran Foundation was set up to make parents and young people aware of the dangers, but also to help parents come to terms, both financially and emotionally with the sudden loss of a child.

On the Stop, Pause, Look and Listen website there is plenty of advice for parents and young people to think about including how technology can be a distraction and a potential killer in the wrong circumstances. It only takes a second of distraction from a text message – loud music – checking Facebook – and the consequences can last a life time.
