Llandudno's D class inshore lifeboat Dr. Barbara Saunderson was called out on Saturday afternoon (20 Aug) to a report of a paddleboard with one person in the water who was struggling against a strengthening offshore wind close to Llandudno Pier.
Arriving on scene, the crew soon found the female casualty, who had been unable to make her way back to shore and was being pushed further out to sea. The casualty was taken aboard the lifeboat, and the paddleboard was also recovered.
The casualty was then taken to the jetty nearby, where Llandudno Coastguard were on scene with police and an ambulance crew. Once ashore the casualty was given a health assessment and advice regarding the risks of paddleboarding during periods of strong offshore winds.
