Supporting Armed Forces Week in Conwy and on the coast

Armed Forces Week kicks off today in Conwy County and North Wales, leading up to Armed Forces Day on June 28th.

This week also includes Reserves Day on Wednesday, recognising the vital role of Reservists in the Armed Forces.

Reservists give up their spare time to serve in the Reserve Forces, balancing their civilian life with a military career to ensure that should their country require them, they would be ready to serve as part of the military.

The Reserve Forces make up approximately one sixth of our Armed Forces personnel and are integral to protecting the nation’s security at home and overseas, particularly providing capability in specialist areas such as medical and cyber.

Reserves Day was created to highlight and recognise the valuable contribution Reservists make to our Armed Forces.

Conwy County Council has proudly supported Armed Forces Week for many years, and in April retained its Gold Level Award for supporting the armed forces community.

The Defence Employer Recognition Scheme recognizes outstanding employers who exceed their commitments under the Armed Forces Covenant, with different levels of recognition.

The scheme's three-tier approach awards bronze, silver, and gold levels based on employers' levels of support.
