A local lifeboat station have been delighted to see that many supporters have answered their Mayday call to help with fundraising and that the goodwill and support is expending further into the summer.

Team India are a fun but crazy bunch who have been enjoying open water swimming together. After one swim in a Welsh lake on a late summer evening, the conversation in the car turned to the question "How can we take our swimming more seriously?" And someone, not sure who, came up with the bright idea of swimming the English Channel together as a team!

Team members visited the Rhyl station over the weekend to meet the crew and manager of the station to outline and highlight their donations page to raise funds for the RNLI.

The institution has suffered as all charities in the lockdown. Whilst rescues have increased, income from donations has reduced greatly.The team will swim the channel and hope to raise over £2600 for the Rhyl station.

Volunteer station manager Darrel Crowther and other crew met the party at the station to thank them for their efforts and wish them good luck. The team has prepared all the necessary safety precautions (and paperwork!) to complete the swim, with back-up and support vessels in attendance.

The Rhyl Lifeboat station actively supports sailors and visitors across the Bay of Colwyn due to its close proximity to the West Conwy coastline.
