Warning after female is followed in Old Colwyn park

Police are warning the public to be aware following on from the report of an incident yesterday evening where a female was followed by a male in the Min Y Don Park area of Old Colwyn.

Officers are investigating and asking the public to stay vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour to them straight away on 101. Anyone who has information relating to the incident is asked to come forward.

In light of the incident and concerns over the safety of women walking or excercising alone, officers have recommended that anyone out alone should always carry a charged mobile phone and consider telling someone where you are going.

"From the moment that you step out onto the street look assertive, act and walk with confidence. This will always make you appear in control. Using a mobile phone whether making a call or texting, listening to music or wearing a hood can all negatively affect awareness of your surroundings."

"Trust your insticts, if something concerns you avoid the area if possible or consider contacting the police and reporting your concerns."

"Although this is not always possible, if you can, try and remain in area which are well lit and is covered by CCTV."
