It has been confirmed that one of the country's most anticipated snooker championships is still going ahead from tomorrow despite the Coronavirus outbreak wreaking havoc on the sporting calendar.

Snooker’s biggest stars are in Llandudno from March 17th to 22nd, as Venue Cymru once again stages the new Coral Tour Championship.

Only the very best players on the scene will qualify, so it promises to be an elite field of the best cue kings on the planet.

The leading eight players on the one-year ranking list will qualify as Llandudno stages a tournament for the sixth consecutive year. The pressure will be on to secure the £150,000 winner's prize and a possible £100,000 tournament bonus.

Last year Ronnie O’Sullivan won the event, beating Neil Robertson 13-11 in a gripping final which was televised on ITV4 along with other matches in the series.

In 2019, Judd Trump, Mark Selby, Neil Robertson and Mark Williams were also in on the action.

The race to qualify started at the beginning of the season last July, and it will finish at the Gibraltar Open on March 13th.

A spokesman for World Snooker said: “We are thrilled to be heading back to a fabulous venue in Llandudno. This is a marvellous opportunity to see the very best players on the planet.

"Certain sessions will sell out quickly so fans must book now. It is sure to be a strong field packed with players in form and a tremendous spectacle of sport over the six days.”
