Colwyn Bay's Manager Steve Evans says the Bay go into Saturday’s JD Welsh Cup quarter final at Cardiff Met full of confidence.

Bay turn their focus to the Cup after a vital 1-0 league win at Aberystwyth Town last Friday as they bid to reach the semi finals for the second time in three years.

“We’re really looking forward to it,” Evans said. “We’ve played them twice – we should have got a result a result the first time, should have got the win the second time.”

Bay lost 1-0 at Cyncoed in August and were held to a 2-2 by The Archers at the 4 Crosses Construction Arena in September, twice conceding the lead.

“It’s all to play for … with a place in the semi-final. We’ll be going down there full of confidence and looking for the right result.”

Saturday’s game will be Bay’s ninth appearance in the quarter finals, having first reached the last eight during the 1903-04 season.

Bay’s only previous Welsh Cup meeting with Cardiff Met was in October 2021 when an early Jack Higgins goal secured a 1-0 win for Craig Hogg’s men at the 4 Crosses Construction Arena.

Players who have already appeared in this season’s competition are no longer deemed Cup tied meaning Harry Owen and Dan Atkins will be available.
