A major new food, drink and community festival is set to debut in Conwy this summer, bringing together local producers, traders, businesses and residents for a celebration of everything the area has to offer.
Taste of Bodlondeb – Blas a’r Fodlondeb – will take place on Saturday, July 25, at the historic Bodlondeb site overlooking the Conwy Estuary.
The free event is being organised by the team behind the site’s redevelopment and regeneration plans and forms part of wider efforts to transform Bodlondeb into a vibrant destination for community, cultural and business activity.
Visitors will be able to enjoy a full programme of attractions throughout the day, including artisan food and drink stalls, local producers, chef demonstrations, family entertainment and activities designed to promote healthy eating and showcase high-quality Welsh produce.
Organisers hope the event will attract visitors from across North Wales, boosting footfall into Conwy while creating opportunities for local businesses to reach new customers.
Those behind the project say their vision extends far beyond a single event.
Taste of Bodlondeb is intended to demonstrate the site’s potential as a venue for future festivals, markets, cultural celebrations, educational activities and community gatherings that can bring long-term benefits to Conwy and the wider region.
Leading the event organisation is the regeneration and place-making consultancy MPW Making Places Work, a company with extensive experience in community-focused development projects across Wales and beyond.
The organisation specialises in helping communities, landowners, businesses and public sector bodies unlock the potential of underused spaces by creating projects that generate economic activity while delivering social and community benefits.
Through collaborative working with local stakeholders, MPW has built a reputation for delivering projects that support town centres, encourage entrepreneurship, celebrate local identity and create opportunities for residents and businesses alike.
Organisers say those same principles are at the heart of Taste of Bodlondeb.
A spokesperson said: “Taste of Bodlondeb aims to celebrate everything that makes this area special – its people, businesses, produce and community spirit.
“From the outset, our ambition has been to work collaboratively with local organisations, producers and residents to create something positive for Conwy while supporting local enterprise and community engagement.”
Applications are now open for food and drink producers, retailers, community groups and businesses interested in trading at the event.
Organisers are particularly keen to hear from Welsh producers and independent businesses that reflect the quality, diversity and creativity of the region’s food and drink sector.
The event is expected to become one of the highlights of Conwy’s summer calendar, providing a platform for local enterprise while helping residents reconnect with a landmark site that has played an important role in the town’s history for generations.
