A 64-year-old man from Harlech has been arrested earlier today for unlawfully wearing naval uniforms at a Remembrance Sunday event in Llandudno last weekend.

Action was taken following much press interest and concerns from those attending the service that someone was impersonating a soldier who fought in conflict, and had achieved recognition for incredible bravery.

Chief Inspector Trystan Bevan stated that investigations are ongoing.

The man was seen dressed as a Rear Admiral with a Distinguished Service Order medal, sparking suspicions of impersonation.

Chief Inspector Bevan said: "We can confirm that, during a search of the male's address earlier today, a naval uniform and a selection of medals were recovered from within."

The Ministry of Defence treats impersonation of military personnel seriously and it is considered to be a criminal offence.
