A 26-year-old man has been charged following an incident yesterday at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd that prompted a response from emergency services.

North Wales Police confirmed that officers were called to the hospital on Saturday, where the incident involved a man on the roof of the building.

The situation was brought under control by North Wales Police with assistance from North Wales Fire and Rescue Service.

A spokesperson for North Wales Police said the man has since been charged with causing a nuisance or disturbance to NHS staff and refusing to leave the premises when requested to do so by a police officer.

The spokesperson said: “He was charged with other than for the purpose of obtaining medical advice, treatment or care, caused, without reasonable excuse, a nuisance or disturbance to a National Health Service staff member who was working there or was otherwise there in connection with work and refused without reasonable excuse to leave the premises when asked to do so by a constable.”

The charge relates to legislation designed to protect healthcare workers and hospital premises from disruption that could impact patient care and the operation of NHS services.

No further details about the circumstances leading up to the incident have been released.

The incident attracted attention at the hospital as emergency services worked to safely resolve the situation.

North Wales Police said enquiries into the matter have now been completed and the man has been charged in connection with the incident.
