A suspected burglar, wanted offenders, an alleged drink-driver and people accused of serious offences were among those arrested by North Wales Police officers across the West Conwy Coastal district over the past week.
Inspector Jamie Thorp has provided an overview of some of the incidents dealt with by local officers as they continue efforts to keep communities safe across Llandudno, Deganwy, Colwyn Bay and surrounding areas.
Among those arrested was 26-year-old Leon Gillespie, of Station Road, Deganwy, who has been charged in connection with two shoplifting offences in Llandudno. He is due to appear before the courts at a later date.
Philip Allan, 36, from Colwyn Bay, was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and criminal damage following a domestic incident in the early hours of May 29. He was remanded in custody to appear before magistrates.
Officers also arrested Jodey Brown-Williams, 52, and Stuart Paul Evans, 49, in Colwyn Bay after both were recalled to prison. Meanwhile, 36-year-old Ahmed Raza, from Llandudno, was arrested after being wanted on warrant.
In another incident, a 41-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of misusing the emergency 999 service.
Inspector Thorp said incidents involving inappropriate use of the emergency number place unnecessary pressure on police resources and can delay responses to genuine emergencies where lives may be at risk.
A 31-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of making threats to kill. Enquiries into the matter remain ongoing.
Officers additionally arrested a 17-year-old male on suspicion of rape and intentional strangulation following an incident during the early hours of May 30. The investigation is now being led by North Wales Police’s Protecting Vulnerable People Unit.
Inspector Thorp stressed that allegations of this nature are treated with the utmost seriousness, sensitivity and confidentiality.
Road safety officers were also called into action on Mostyn Street, Llandudno, on the evening of May 31, where a man was arrested on suspicion of being in charge of a vehicle while over the prescribed alcohol limit.
Steven Jones, 51, of Acacia Avenue, Huyton, was subsequently charged and is due to appear in court at a later date.
Meanwhile, detectives investigating a burglary reported in Llandudno on April 30 have made progress in their enquiries.
The break-in saw a number of items reportedly stolen, including a quad bike and a bicycle. Scenes of Crime officers attended to gather forensic evidence, and this week a 28-year-old man from Gwynedd was arrested on suspicion of burglary. He has since been released on police bail while investigations continue.
Providing his weekly update, Inspector Thorp said officers continue to work proactively across the district, responding to incidents, carrying out investigations and tackling crime while maintaining a visible presence in local communities.
He added that neighbourhood officers would continue to be out and about across the area and encouraged residents to speak to them about any concerns affecting their communities.
